First Race of Many to come....

This past weekend is over and I'm relieved in a way.  The work up to a race is hard work and determination and there is a mixed feeling of sadness and relief at the same time.  My son has been training for his first 8k and had afternoon practices on the one day of the week that my husband and I had the craziest schedule.  Obviously, we made it work.  You jump through hoops for you kids that you would never do for anyone else.

My Son's 8k Race

Cold, windy and ready to go!
Thank God he was running with our friend Chris,
now we could spot him in the 8,000+ crowd.
"Looking for boy with red shirt and dude with green mohawk."

Here he comes.....

....but where is Mr. Chris.....

....oh, there he is..LOL....

Awesome Job!

8k Finishing Time: 47:46

I remember when my 16 year old was 9 and we both entered a 5K in Houston. A lot of fun. Of course he sprinted to the finish to beat the "old man"
Tell your son way to go from blogland.

Congrats to your son on his 8K! That's great that he's so involved in running at such a young age; hopefully, it gives him good exercise skills for life!

Can I coach Jay? He appears to have the most natural ability and talent for running out of the entire Tipton family.

It's great that you and John are positive role models for your kids, providing them with examples for fit and healthy lifestyles. All 3 of my kids ran track and cross country in HS. I didn't make them, they just gravitated towards it. It's something that they can do the rest of their lives to stay in shape.

You and John should be very proud of Jay, not just for his time, but also for the fact that he was out there doing it.

Good job kid!

Hope my kid will do that when he is 8. We have our annual kids bike race this weekend that he has a new bike for. Should be interesting.
