Five Things Fall

Fall has finally arrived here in the Old Dominion. Summer is officially gone and we are welcomed by the early morning temps of 45 and as the morning yawns and the sun comes out we warm up to 65-70. Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons of the year.

What's Awesome About Fall....

1.) Football

~I love Sunday & Monday football games. I love to get in my sweatpants, sweatshirt, & watch the Redskins play (Please fire-Jim Zorn). I might not be sitting in front of the TV the whole time, but I have to have the sound of the game piped through the house on my Bose speakers. This ritual of fall brings me back to a better time when I was a kid, so I feel somewhat nostalgic.

2. Fall Runs

~Not too cold, not too hot, just right! Virginia sure is a purty time to go on a run, the leaves are beautiful!

3.) Pumpkins on a porch

~I love the look of pumpkins on a porch. Doesn't have to be my porch, just anybodies porch. It says to me, "Welcome Fall!" I hope I don't leave mine on the porch until Christmas this year. ;)

4.) Pumpkin Spice Latte....

~Dayum you Starbucks! 300 calories (Tall) ain't too bad, right?

5.) Soups & Stews

~Back to cooking up soups, stews, & liquid elixirs. I love a cool night with hot soup and fresh bread out of the oven to go with it.

Triathlon/Racing season is officially over and I'm still thinking about what races/rides I want to do next year. I absolutely fell in love with the century, so maybe two next year or one century and one metric. I know I'll attempt to conquer the sub 2:00 in March when I do the Shamrock 1/2 Marathon but I'm not sure what else I may do in 2010.

How does everyone feel about the end of the season?
Happy Fall Ya'll!

Souvenirs, Novelties, & Party tricks

~My First Century is officially in the bag, 100 miles on a bike is quite the experience. I travelled to Maryland and met up with 5 other spin instructor buddies. Our goal was to finish and to have a good time. We finished and had the time of our lives. Next year we're hoping to get more people involved, it is a flat ride and the race and fuel stations are put together very well.

Seagull Century Memories

~Swarming bee's and pouring down rain at the start isn't a good sign. Thank you God for drying up the skies and providing Benedryl for my peeps.

~Gear problems at the start can't really be good. Thank you Bike Shop tent for hooking my sista' up!

~"On Your Left" means move over to the right so I don't run into the back of you.

~Are you really wearing that?

~Mr. Newton & Mrs. Nuun helped my energy all day!

~"Dude you rock, riding that Unicycle for 100 miles."

~"Can I ride your wheel for a while?" Uh.......

~Moe, our 6th riding partner that had tree trunk legs.

~"Can you stick that bell somewhere Mister!!!!" "Ring that bell at me again?!"

~Miles 60-80 were the hardest.....wind.....rain.....wind.....cold

~Never leave your friends on a ride! NEVER!!! :(

~Margarita's, crab dip, & chocolate cake are nice after a 100 mile bike ride.

~As you nestle down to sleep you are awoken to a fire drill 2x where you go out to the parking lot and see a slew of tired Century riders. Wasn't funny, until later.....

Thank You
Twin, Bobby B, Debs, McMahon, & The Beast!

Friday 5 dump....

1.) My Next Challenge.....

2.) Ch..ch...check out my melody....

-Want a little "bizkit" this weekend? Only cool kidz click on the "bizkit."

3.) I still love the look and feel of a $1.67 medal hanging in my room....

4.) Starbucks Instant Coffee

-So Starbucks rolled out their new instant coffee this past week. I gotta a nice connection with the Starbucks people (SIL works there) and she hands me these "samples" and says, "give it a try."

-Let me start by saying I'm a serious coffee snob. Nothing but the best beans cross these lips. I only like freshly ground beans before every cup, and I won't even attempt to drink the likes of Folgers, Maxwell House, or Chock-full-of-shiz.....

-So I'm driving home from my 6am spin class and want to have another cup, alas the hubs drank all the french press Starbucks. I'm feeling lazy and don't want to clean the beaker like device. "Wait, I've got those samples of Starbucks coffee!" Dayum...Shizam.....let me give it a go go....

-Honestly, Seriously, No Joke, it's pretty darn close to the real deal. Now, am I going to pay a staggering $2.95 for three little packages? Uh, hell to the no! I'll keep getting my stash from my dealer. Though, for a treat I'd grab it and feel like I was getting a good cup of coffee.

-I'll stick with grinding my beans and frenching my press but If I need a quickie-I WILL grab my new instant friend.

5.) Sooooooo Excited.....

-My peeps and I will be smiling, riding, & getting dirty next weekend. I can't wait to dance, eat, & get a sore bottom with them. Come join us for a little ride through the flat roads of Maryland-I might even give you crabs! ;)
