"Stop staring......

....at the Garmin."

Is what I kept saying to myself today using my new toy.  For you guys that are experienced Garmin users be patient with the virgin here.  I LOVE IT! I'm gonna get a crick in my neck if I keep looking down at my wrist.

Today was the first "official" 1/2 marathon training day.  The Shamrock 1/2 Marathon is approaching and I missed my longer run on Wednesday because of lil' man's stomach.  It was a wonderful 56 degree sunny morning here in good ol' Virginny.  There are alot of features on the Garmin Forerunner 405, but today I used the basic features.  Time-Pace-Calories-Miles

My babies feedback:
Distance- 5.97 miles
Time-58:09
Average-9:42 average mile

Stomach Viruses and My Top 5

Well this is the year for lil' man to have the 24 hour stomach virus.  Let me refresh your memory on the last time.

This time I awoke to my husband cleaning up the "spaghetti from last night" all over the bed rail and floor.  By 9 am he was feeling ok enough to eat something, by 12 pm he felt well enough to go on the computer and by 4 pm he felt great enough to play basketball and go to running club.  I let him play basketball but not go to running club.

This leads in to My Top 5 for the week......

#1 Lil' Man feeling better

-Don't you hate it when their sick? When you give birth to these little babies, it really pains you to see them suffer.  When his little body is hanging his head in a bowl puking his guts out, I really want to cry and wish I could suffer for him.  Thankfully he's feeling better. :)

#2. Dudes that wear Asics

-Should I bronze his first pair of running shoes?  He's running an 8k in March!

#3. My Spice-Herb Ball

-Got a great deal on this "Herb" ball from Williams-Sonoma.  No longer do I have to cut cheese cloth, tie, and cut all the hanging strings when I cook my recipes.  I can now load all my spices into this metal ball, latch it and hang it in the pot.  Do you realize how much time I'm going to save?  This was in the clearance pile for $2.00, regular prize was $10.00.

#4.  My Husbands Coffee

-My husband makes the best coffee.  I mean seriously, nobody can make coffee like my husband.  I've tried to watch and copy what he does and it never comes out right.  I have to admit I'm pretty high maintenance with my coffee.  I have one splenda, 1 lil' tub of half/half, and a splash of regular milk. Oh, and it has to be "burning the roof of my mouth" hot.  I have to blow on it so why have it so hot? Don't know but I dig the little ritual I got with my friend coffee.  Awwwww...a little piece of heaven every morning.

#5. Psalms 139:7-8

"Where can I go from your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there."

-Our Pastor was just preaching on Sunday about how God's love and thoughts for us are precious to Him. Then a couple days later I read this in my devotion time.

By the way, where do you guys put your Garmin? I found the perfect place on my dresser and even have a little pillow for it to lay on.

What do Viv & Entertainment Weekly have in common?

Viv's favorite things as well as Entertainment Weekly's "Must List"  inspired me to put a weekly list together of five things I love, am grateful for, or I'm just diggin'.   Consider putting your own list together, it will fill your heart with gratitude and help you look to the things that are lovely and wonderful.  Since I have a tendency to occasionally look at life with a cynical tone, this will bring a benefit into my own personal life.

My Top 5 this week is......

#1. The track to the right>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

-An awesome remix of "Get Busy," this would be great for a climb.  I love this track for just bobbing my head at the computer, definitely going on the Pod.

#2. Romans 12:2

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing, and perfect will."

-Nuff said, God really knew what to speak to me this week.

#3.

-I'm so grateful for spinning, cycling, & running.  I feel powerful, healthy and alive.

#4 My New Slippers

-Isn't it amazing how the simple things in life can bring you so much joy?

#5 My Christmas Gifts

-Thank you Santa, you knew exactly what I wanted.

Like the track?

This is where I'll be at 9am on January 1st.

While the rest of you are hung over in bed getting ready to order hot/sour soup from your local Chinese restaurant.  My husband said last night, "why did you volunteer for that ride?" Well since 1.) I love to Spin,  2.) I'm the only spin class for that day, and 3.) I still need to burn off those unwanted goodies from Christmas.  Why not?!? I am having a small get together at my house on New Years Eve so we shall see how enthusiastic I am about getting out of bed on 1/1/09!

Simple Loops-IEZ

I've been in a really creative mood lately since I've had two weeks off.  I've put a couple of rides together.  This one is tweaked version of Pink/Bill P's looped ride.  I really like the simplicity of this, you can take it any way you want.  This could be very challenging or quite simple.  I was wanting a "funky mix" and found a great album to go with the them here.
