"Stop staring......

....at the Garmin."

Is what I kept saying to myself today using my new toy.  For you guys that are experienced Garmin users be patient with the virgin here.  I LOVE IT! I'm gonna get a crick in my neck if I keep looking down at my wrist.

Today was the first "official" 1/2 marathon training day.  The Shamrock 1/2 Marathon is approaching and I missed my longer run on Wednesday because of lil' man's stomach.  It was a wonderful 56 degree sunny morning here in good ol' Virginny.  There are alot of features on the Garmin Forerunner 405, but today I used the basic features.  Time-Pace-Calories-Miles

My babies feedback:
Distance- 5.97 miles
Time-58:09
Average-9:42 average mile
Calories-667

  2. Looks good for the first training run of the season. Were you able to keep your hands below your head for most of the run?...and how did John's run go this week? He says he's going to kick your ass at Shamrock.

  5. Yeah, I can be somewhat of a garmin-a-holic. I have all the goodies for mine (305):cadence sensor, foot pod, quick release.

  6. Garmins are the coolest. I've had the 205 for a couple of years, and I've acquired a 50 over the last couple of months. They are great tools! You'll especially love the training feature when its time to do intervals and fartleks and such. No track required!

  10. When I first got my Garmin (it's an old one now) I was the same way. Always looking at it and nearly tripped many times since I don't pick up my feet much when running. Be careful and enjoy your new toy!

  11. Great run Shannon. How was the ITB? or did concentrating on the Garmin make you forget about it?

  14. Jesse~Garmin doesn't have the software for the Mac yet. I was considering loading it up to my kids PC but I'm patiently waiting for Garmin to get there act together.
