What a difference a week makes!

Welcome to the east coast of Virginia.  One week it's 73 degrees and the next it's 45.  Well it seems 45 suits me for my long runs! Yahoo..... I tried the Vanilla Bean GU which wasn't bad at all, I've had worse things in my mouth before.  I think I went a little late, mile 7 and I took it with plain water rather than gatorade/water mix.  I think race day, I'll "GU up" around mile 5 and again at 10.

Thanks to this guy, I'm going to beat 2:18!

I want to thank this running coach, Men's Fitness Model, & #1 smart a** for getting me there.  Your encouragement and wisdom is appreciated and John and I are thankful for you!  We can't all run Boston and look as fine as you, but we can sure try. :)

Good luck this weekend to Jay (my baby boy is running 5), My honey, Sam, Penny, Padilla, Bob, and Travis.  Travis, thank God it wasn't a torn meniscus and just that dreaded IT band that we all love to roll out.  Good luck Bro-"don't puss out, just push through." LOL....

Excellent training run. It should give you the mental confidence to do your best on Sunday. I really think that the temperature, not your nutrition, is what caused you to bonk last week.

Good luck to you, John, Penny, Sam, Bob, and your son. I hope the weather is perfect for all of you. You'll all have good races, based on strong training seasons.

PS - If you're trying to build traffic on your blog, I'd suggest removing that scary looking picture that you have posted there now. Keep it away from young children especially.

We don't want to hear about the 'worse things you've had in your mouth before.' Sheesh, who do you think we are? Sick-o!

Beware of chocolate gu/gels, you dribble any anywheres (and besides being sticky as hell) you look like you shit all over yourself. Just a helpful tip from me!

Great run! Cooler weather suits my long runs, too. And still chortling over your Gu comment. I agree- I don't mind that flavor at all.

Glad you liked the GU! Thanks for the encouragement on my blog the other day. So, stretching and strength training helped you a ton, huh? That's great to know. Have an awesome evening!

Great job!!! I take the vanilla bean Gu during long days & races and you are dead-on -- timing is key. I pop one at approx. mile 4 or 5 and at mile 10. Has worked for me every time. All the best to you!

I really didn't need to hear about what goes in your mouth and what you did or didn't like about it!!! That's gross.. You need to clean it up!

great job!!!! i think 45 is my favorite running temp too :)

in half races i usually take my gu around 4.5/5 and 9/10 and i follow it with plain water.

Yes, cooler weather can make such a difference on long runs. Glad this one went better. BTW, where are you getting your calorie numbers from? I think my HRM is lying big time.
