Here was the check list of things I had to remember for today's 12 mile run.

  • Gloves
  • Fuel
  • Water/Gatorade Mix
  • iPod with fresh tunes
  • Tissues
  • My baby ("G"armin)
  • Lip Stuff
I was on my way to get the twelve done and about 1/2 mile into the run, I remembered I forgot the most important thing......

Strap on, I ran a different route today and it was cold but the sun was shining which always makes a cold run 100x better.  Random things I passed on my new route.  I passed a bag that was placed precariously in the middle of the sidewalk that either looked like a little boy forgot his lunch before getting on the bus or a bomb was inside.  My kids school, but didn't see them.  I passed a park where a ton of Geese had Mardi Gras on the sidewalk.  I ran over a bunch of broken glass bottles, and passed an IHOP, where I wanted to run in and yell, "I WANT HOTCAKES NOW!" Passed a shady looking dude who looked like he wanted to put his cigarette out on my forehead.  Finally, the last uninteresting thing I passed, a dentist office I used to work at.

The run went ok, I thought I was running a pretty good pace when I would catch myself looking down at "G" and it would read "YOUR SLOW, PICK IT UP!" I'm glad I went back and got my strap, because the knees started tweaking around mile 10 and the last two miles were a bit of a struggle.  Overall I'm pleased with my performance and I'm 4 weeks away from Shamrock!

Good work on the run, sister.

You'll have to start calling your Garmin something other than "G" since that's what Marcy calls me, and in the running blogosphere, what Marcy says, goes.

Sorry.

I don't make the rules.

Feel free to call it "Gar" or "Da 'Min".

But "G" is mine.

MARCY HAS SPOKEN!1!

Fear her wrath!!!

Ahhhh, you are up to 12 miles already this year... not jealous :-)

OK, seriously, I NEED to see you run with a strap on. Bet you'd get some more interesting stuff on your run with that ON. How you forget a run without your strap on? hahahaha

I know, I know, I'm like a boy in middle school..it still makes me laugh.

Awesome run. Glad you went back in for the strap. That was funny about the guy looking like he wanted to put his ciggy out on your forehead! :)

That's great that your hubs has the tri bug. I'm actually glad mine's not interested because, though he has horrible, horrible swim form, he can go so much faster than me in the lake.

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Nice job on the run!

You are awesome. I can't run more than 2 minutes. BUT, I did teach a 2-hour straight Spinning class tonight. It was intense, and awesome (and will be the profile of the week!!)

Also, hotcakes/pancakes sounds AWESOME right now. But I just had some of my beloved muscle milk instead :)

Great job Shannon... I think I ran over those broken glass bottles last night. Had I been more considerate, I would have stopped to clean them up for you. :-)

You're too funny! :-)

Great run! Congrats!

Nice result, although it would have been even better if the average pace was 9:59. You are so close.

You may want to program your Garmin to use proper spelling. Program it so say "You're slow...." not "Your slow..."

I was thinking the same thing about the strap on as Missy posted above. I am as immature as a boy in middle school.

Sorry, I got so hung up on the misspelling and strap on, I missed the knee problem. Not good. You're in your home stretch now. Make sure to ice, stretch, and foam roller. Wear the strap on and hope that you're fine for the next long run.
